Turbocharger for Volvo Penta 41/42/43 Series – Replaces 861260 | REC861260

Recmar REC861260 is a new aftermarket marine turbocharger for selected Volvo Penta 41, 42 and 43-series diesel engines. It replaces Volvo Penta turbocharger references 861260, 860918, 838697 and 3802070, and cross-references the BorgWarner K26 service number 5326 988 6497.

Fitment first: this turbocharger does not fit every Volvo Penta engine described simply as a “41”, “42” or “43”. Before ordering, match the complete engine designation and the Volvo Penta or BorgWarner number on the turbocharger currently fitted. Some 41-series engines were supplied with different turbo versions.

What is supplied?

• 1 × new Recmar turbocharger assembly

Not included: installation gaskets, studs, nuts, oil pipes, hoses, exhaust elbow and other ancillary components. The related Recmar gasket set REC3582563 should be ordered separately where required.

Installation and ordering checks

• Match the full engine suffix and the identification plate on the existing turbo.
• Inspect the exhaust elbow for internal corrosion or restriction before fitting the replacement turbo.
• Check that the oil-feed and oil-return pipes are clean, unrestricted and undamaged.
• Renew the engine oil, oil filter and required installation gaskets.
• Prime the turbocharger with clean engine oil before initial start-up.
• Identify and correct the cause of the original turbo failure before installing the replacement.

Installation by a competent marine diesel technician is recommended. If the existing reference cannot be read, contact us with the complete engine model, engine serial number and clear photographs of the old turbocharger identification plate.
