MAR289 is an aftermarket cast exhaust mixing elbow for selected Volvo Penta marine diesel engines. It replaces Volvo Penta 861289 and 851289 and is the later single-water-inlet elbow used across many 31, 32, 41, 42, 43, 44 and 300 series applications.

This elbow mixes cooling water into the exhaust stream and routes exhaust gases safely into the wet exhaust system. It is commonly fitted on turbocharged Volvo Penta diesel installations and is a critical corrosion-wear item in the exhaust circuit. The main buyer check on this part is the inlet style: 861289 is the later 38mm version, while older 860656 installations used a 32mm pipe layout. If replacing an earlier 860656 elbow, verify the hose, clamp and associated fittings before ordering.
