Warranty & Faulty Goods Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

If a part arrives faulty or develops a problem, please contact us. We know that a failed component can mean lost time on the water, and we want to help establish what's wrong and put it right.

This policy explains how faulty-goods claims and manufacturer warranties work when you buy from TMP Global. It applies alongside our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy and does not affect your statutory rights.

1. Your rights if a product is faulty

When you buy as a consumer, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for any particular purpose made known to us where the law requires. These rights are provided by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and apply whether or not a manufacturer offers a warranty.

If goods do not meet those requirements, your rights depend on the circumstances. You will normally have a short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods within 30 days of delivery. After that, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement, and in some circumstances a price reduction or refund.

If a fault becomes apparent within the first six months, the law generally presumes that the problem was present when the goods were supplied, unless we can establish otherwise or the presumption is incompatible with the nature of the goods or fault. Your rights can continue beyond six months, although you may then need to show that the problem existed when the goods were supplied.

We will not require you to deal with the manufacturer instead of TMP Global when you are exercising your statutory rights against us.

2. Manufacturer warranties

Some products are supplied with a manufacturer's warranty or guarantee. The length of cover, what it includes and how a claim is assessed vary by manufacturer and product. The relevant warranty documentation, where provided, sets out those additional terms.

We do not advertise a single warranty period covering every product in our catalogue. If you need to confirm the manufacturer's warranty for a particular item before ordering, please contact us with the product reference.

A manufacturer warranty may offer help beyond your statutory rights, but it cannot replace or reduce those rights. Likewise, an expired manufacturer's warranty does not automatically mean that you have no rights against us.

3. How to report a fault

Email support@tmpglobal.store or use our Contact Us page. Please include your order number, the product or part number, a description of the problem and when you first noticed it.

Photographs, a short video, engine or equipment details, and information about how the part was fitted can be helpful, particularly where a fault is difficult to identify. We may also ask for proof of purchase if we cannot locate the order. You do not need to have retained the original packaging to raise a valid statutory faulty-goods claim.

If the part could affect the safety of your vessel, engine or electrical system, stop using it until it has been checked. Please do not carry out further dismantling or repairs unless needed to make the equipment safe, or unless we have agreed a suitable course of action.

4. Inspection, testing and returns

We may need to inspect the product or arrange testing to understand the cause of a reported fault. For some components this may involve the manufacturer or supplier. We'll explain what is needed and provide suitable return instructions where a return is necessary.

Please contact us before posting a suspected faulty part. Return arrangements can vary depending on the item, and our registered office is not the general returns address.

We will assess the evidence fairly and keep you informed. Manufacturer or supplier testing will not be used to remove or unreasonably delay a remedy to which you are legally entitled. Where a valid consumer remedy requires us to cover necessary and reasonable return, repair or replacement costs, we will do so.

5. Installation, wear and accidental damage

Marine parts should be installed, used and maintained in accordance with the relevant manufacturer's instructions. We recommend using a competent marine engineer or installer for work involving fuel systems, steering, electrical equipment or other safety-critical components.

Normal wear, accidental damage, misuse, incorrect installation, unsuitable operating conditions or modifications made after delivery are not, by themselves, manufacturing defects. For example, an impeller worn through normal service is different from one that was defective when supplied.

However, a claim will not be rejected automatically because a component has been installed, used on a boat, exposed to water as intended, or repaired by someone other than a manufacturer-approved workshop. The cause of the problem, the product's intended use and your legal rights will be considered in each case.

If a fitted part is found to be faulty, any claim involving removal, refitting, labour or other related costs will be considered according to the circumstances and applicable law. We do not promise to pay every associated expense, but we do not exclude costs that we are legally required to bear.

6. What happens after we review your claim?

Once we have enough information, we'll explain the next step. Depending on the nature of the fault and your rights, this may be a repair, replacement, refund or another appropriate remedy. If an item is covered by an additional manufacturer warranty, we can also help you understand or arrange that process.

We won't automatically refuse a claim because a manufacturer rejects it, nor will we automatically approve every claim without establishing what has happened. If we believe a problem is not covered, we'll explain our reasoning.

7. Trade purchases

Purchases made wholly or mainly for business purposes are subject to the applicable contract and business sales law rather than the consumer remedies set out above. Manufacturer warranty terms may still apply. Trade customers should contact us with their order and product details so we can review the issue and any agreed trade terms.
