Parts Compatibility & Fitment Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
Choosing the right part for a boat, engine or marine system is important. Many components look similar but differ in small details that affect fitment, performance or safety. This page explains how to check compatibility before ordering and how we can help.
1. Check your equipment details
Before buying a replacement part, check the relevant manufacturer's part number and, where applicable, your engine or equipment make, model, serial number, year, version and system configuration.
Engine model names alone are not always enough. Manufacturers may change components during a production run, and a part suitable for one serial-number range may not suit another. If you are replacing an existing component, compare the original part and its identifying marks where practical.
2. OEM and aftermarket products
We supply products from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and independent aftermarket manufacturers. An aftermarket part may be designed for use in place of a particular OEM reference, but it is not necessarily manufactured, approved or endorsed by the original equipment manufacturer.
References to brands such as Volvo Penta, Mercury, Yamaha or Tohatsu may describe the intended application of a product. They do not, by themselves, mean that an aftermarket product is a genuine part from that brand.
Parts described as alternatives or equivalents should be checked for the correct specification and application. Two products intended for the same general purpose may not be interchangeable in every installation.
3. Product listings, diagrams and cross-references
Product titles, descriptions, technical data, cross-reference numbers and exploded diagrams are intended to help identify components. We make reasonable efforts to keep this information accurate, but discrepancies can occur between supplier catalogues, manufacturer revisions and individual installations.
Where a specific serial-number range, measurement, thread, voltage, rotation, connector type or other technical detail is important, confirm it before ordering. A diagram or cross-reference alone should not be relied upon where the necessary details remain uncertain.
4. Ask us before ordering
If you are unsure which part you need, please contact us at support@tmpglobal.store or through our Contact Us page. The more information you provide, the better we can help.
Useful details include the engine or equipment make and model, serial number, manufacturer's reference, photographs of the existing component, measurements and a brief explanation of the repair or maintenance being carried out.
We can help review supplier information and available options, but we may need to seek further confirmation from a manufacturer or specialist where a part cannot be reliably identified from the information available.
5. Installation and safety
Parts should be installed and used in accordance with the applicable manufacturer's instructions, maintenance requirements and recognised safety procedures. Work on fuel systems, steering, electrical installations, engines and other safety-critical equipment should be carried out by someone with the necessary knowledge and competence.
Never fit a component if you have reasonable doubts about its suitability, condition or safe operation. If the part appears inconsistent with the product ordered, stop and contact us before attempting installation.
6. If something is wrong
If we supply a part that is faulty, misdescribed or not as agreed, you may have rights under applicable consumer law. This page does not exclude those rights or remove our responsibility for inaccurate information or advice where the law makes us responsible.
If you ordered an unsuitable part by mistake, our Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy explains the return options available to you.
